Artificial Reefs is a human-created underwater structure placed on the seabed to mimic some functions of a natural reef, such as protecting, regenerating, concentrating and/or enhancing populations of living marine resources. This includes protection and regeneration of habitats. They serve as habitats that function as part of the natural ecosystem.

It is an innovative project aimed at enhancing marine biodiversity and supporting the regeneration of fish stocks by deploying artificial reefs along the Goan coastline. As of now, three modules; Triangles, well ring & Grouper have been designed. Deployment of Artificial reefs will provide shelter and breeding grounds for variety of fish species, creating a thriving and balanced underwater ecosystem which a significant resource for the fishing community.
